Monday 8/24/09 was week 2 of the Industrial League in Smyrna Bowling Center. My Opponent was to be determined because the other team had a 5th member join the team & had to establish an average. After all was said & done, I rolled games of 214, 246, & 226 for a steady 686 series & won all 3 of my points to raise my season's record to 5-1. Jeannie Almon State Farm took down 17 points to stand @ 36-10 whick should keep us close to the top spot.
Wednesday 8/26/09 however was a different story. I just could not figure out the oil on the lanes & as a result, the reaction on the balls I threw were not consistant. I rolled dismal games of 175, 196, & 155 for a poor 526 & it cost me & my fellow members $15 appiece as we dropped down to 9th place. I still made the roll-off in singles (barely) and moved to a better pair of lanes. There I rolled my best game of the night, a clean 218. However, John Traverse started with an open followed by 8 strikes in a row, & a split in the 10th to finish with a 240. I was not happy with my performance. I knew that bowling on 3 straight nights would take its toll on me, but I should have performed better. If I want my game to take a step up to the next level, I need to handle the pressure better, not get down on myself. & most important of all: BE AGGRESSIVE!!!
Until next week, May the balls be rollin' & the pins be fallin'.
Monday August 17th began the new season for the Industrial League with me as its president (god help me, lol). After practicing the previous Saturday with my clip on shades, I felt like I was throwing the ball very well, despite not getting the best scoring. So I wore them again on Monday night to see what would happen. The resurt was a great night down on lanes 1 & 2. My games were 266, 215, & 267 for a strong 748 series while winning 2 points. Our starting five for Jeannie Almon State Farm were Mark Jahns (welcome back Mark), Wayne Fults, Phillip Loyd (welcome to the team Phillip), Ray Watson, & Richard Zack (myself). Cindy Fults will be our 6th bowler this year & fill in when necessary. Our team took a whopping 19 out of 23 points to begin the first week in 1st place. Again this league is divided into 3 sessions. A team winning one of the 3 sessions automatically qualifies for the roll-offs. Also, the team with the best overall record after 33 weeks receives a wild card entry to the roll-offs. So we are off to a great start this year.
I decided to wear the clip-on shades again on Wednesday in the ALL 4 ONE league. My games were 279, 200, & 247 for a solid 726. With the final week coming up this Wednesday, I need a good show to qualify for the singles roll-off. I can't make the top 16 to ensure a first round bye, so I need to stay in the top 48 to reach the roll-off. My record is 20-19 so far & have faced some very strong competition this summer.
Saturday, I begin bowling in the Guys & Dolls league. It will bowl every other Saturday @ 6 pm & it will be more competetive that the Moose was. Our Moose League champion team will be in tact & ready for the stiffer competition.
Until next week, May the balls be rollin' & the pins be fallin'!!!
