Saturday was the 15th & final week for the Moose Mixed League. Our task was simple, win 1 our of 4 points & we win the league. Everyone knew that and we did not waste any time by winning the very first game by well over 100 pins. My games were lackluster, based that we had won the league & I lost some of my focus from that point. But also, the lanes' oil pattern was breaking down a bit faster & my adjustments were not keeping pace with it. My final 3 league games here were 215, 172, & 200 for a 587 series. My average dropped down to 217, but was still the highest in the league. Thanks for a great season.
Here are the final results of the Moose Mixed League:

Monday was the last week of session 3 and the final scheduled week for the Monday Night Industrial League in Smyrna. Our Team, Jeannie Almon State Farm, was in the hunt for a possible wild card bid, but would have to win almost every point we could & get help from another team to take the wild card spot away. Unfortunately, things did not go as planned and our team only took a total of 9 points. My games were dismal, due mostly to poor pin carry the first two games. My last game was what i was hoping for all night to see if I could raise my average up to 220/game. I had to have a 668 series or better to achieve that feat. But my scores were 183, 178, & 235 for a 596 series to finish with a 219 average (6th highest in the league & 8 pins higher than last year). I won 1 point in the final game to finish this season with a great 61-38 record. Although our team missed out on the league roll-off, we finished in 5th place overall out of 24 teams and should get decent money back from the league.
The Tennessee State Bowling Tournament for is fast approaching upon me. I will bowl the team events on Saturday April 18th @ Hermitage Lanes in Hermitage, TN (east Nashville), and the singles & doubles events on Sunday April 19th @ Strike & Spare Lanes in Hillwood, TN (west Nashville). I am hoping for a repeat performance from last years incredible outing for me. My focus needs to be sharp & my execution needs to be smooth & fluid to achieve that feat again.
The next blog entry will probably come after the state event, and should have info on when the TNBA program will have their next couple of tournaments.
Until then, May the balls be rollin' & the pins be fallin'.
Monday was the 10th week of session 3 (32nd week overall) in the Industrial League @ Smyrna Bowling Center. My game was consistant, but with a few hiccups. My games were a come from behind 202 (striking out in the 10th frame to overcome a 7-10 split in the 6th frame & a missed 10 pin in the 9th frame), 215, & 227 for a 644 series. I won all 3 points tonight to reach the 60 win plateau against 36 losses, but my average slipped back to 219.91 with the final week still to go. If I can roll a 668 series (or better), I can finish with a 220 average & complete my goal this season. Our team Jeannie Almon State Farm ran into a buzzsaw the first game with S-T-R-O-K-E as they took 5 points to our 2, and held a 57 pin lead. The 2nd game our team got after it as we came back to win 5 points to 2 to even the match at 7-7 and close the overall pinfall down to a 37 pin difference. The third game we jump out fast taking as much as a 100 pin lead at times. S-T-R-O-K-E came back to make a game out of it and keep individual, team total for the last game, & overall pinfall still in doubt, so lots of points were up for grabs. But we held strong led by our substitute Mark Jahns with a key strike in the 9th frame plus a double in the 10th frame, then myself with a double in the 8th & 9th frames plus a double & 9 count in the 10th frame to win by 46 pins, taking 6 out of 7 points in the last game & 2 more points for total. So we won 15 big points tonight to remain in the top 5 for this session. My guess is that next week we will bowl against T's Pro Shop #1 in the final position round. But I might not face Travis Loeffler this time, as his teammate Mark Howell may have passed him in average by a fraction of a pin. But that is only a guess. We came in tied with Bowler's Advantage for 4th place & I did not know how many points they won tonight. I know we did not pass T's Pro Shop tonight as they were 9 points ahead of us in 3rd place. So we are bowling either T's pro Shop on lanes 3 & 4, or against Custom Uniform Service on lanes 5-6 next Monday. And who knows, anything can happen (including earning enough points to earn the wild card spot for the roll-off, but I do not know where we are for overall points). We need our best effort next week to the best possibility available to us.
This Saturday, The Moose Mixed League with conclude play with the final position week. Our team (What Have I Done Now?") needs to win 1 point to clinch first place in the league.
Also on Sunday, there is a 9 game scratch sweeper @ Hillwood Strike & Spare Lanes in West Nashville. This house will host the doubles & singles competition for the Tennessee State Tournament in less than 4 weeks, and they have said that it will have the same USBC oil pattern for that scratch sweeper that they will use in the doubles & singles events. So that is an interesting tourney to consider before the state events. Entry fee is $100.00 plus high game & bracket pots available. We'll see if I decide to enter that tourney or not.
Until next week, may the balls be rollin' & the pins be fallin'.
Saturday was the 14th week for the Moose Mixed League. Our team knew that it was in postion to control its own destiny, win all 4 points & guarantee 2nd place in the league, plus a strong chance to either clinch first place this very night or be in prime position to win the league on the final night. Our team was up to the challenge. We had great performances from April Sisco & Melanie Zygadlo all 3 games, and I was determined to execute each shot. My games were 225, 266 (had first 9 strikes before a 7-10 split in the tenth frame), and a 213 for a fine 704 series to raise my average up to 219. We accomplished our goal by winning all four points. TN Strikers took 3 points to remain in 2nd place. We will bowl TN Strikers on the final night of the league. If we win just 1 point, we will clinch first place. Here now are the current standings:

Week 15 is the final week of this league & it is Position Week! (since there is a 3-way tie for 7th, all lane assignments are not official) The top 6 teams & the bottom 5 teams are correct.
Monday was week 9 of the 3rd seesion (31st week overall) of the Monday Night Industrial League @ Smyrna. With this week & 2 more to follow, getting points would be vital in determining whether we would qualify for the Roll-offs or not. Our team, Jeannie Almon State Farm, started strong winning 6 points in the first game, then 2 points the second game, 4.5 points in the final game & 2 points for total pinfall to earn a total of 14.5 points. This was not bad considering that we sacrificed a lot of pins due to the other teams handicap. But we really needed a few more points to improve our position. I came out smoking with a solid 276 game, then a 233 game, and a 187 game (which should have been better as each ball was in the pocket either striking, leaving a ringing 10 pin, or a solid 9 pin for the first nine frames before i stuck at the foul line in the tenth frame leaving a 4-6-7 split). But for the most part, I felt like I rolled the ball well en route to a 696 series. This raises my average up to 220 (which is my goal) and my record now stands at 57 wins, 36 losses. Next Monday we will be on lanes 3 & 4.
Until next week, may the balls be rollin' & the pins be fallin'.
Monday was the 8th week of session 3 (30th week overall) of the Industrial League @ Smyrna. Our team, Jeannie Almon State Farm, had 1 easy task to perform...win all the points we could against a vacant team that we could. I would say that our goal tonight was to win 20 points or better. We ended up with 18. This keeps us near the top of the session standings & improves our overall record this season, but we lost ground to the 2nd place team (who bowled the other vacant team in our league) as they earned 21 points to move into first place. We trail them by 15 points with 3 weeks to go. We know now where we stand. We need to win lots of points as well as get some help from the teams bowling the top team right now (their team name is "Pure Luck"). My games were 211, 246, & 213 for a 670 series, enough to maintain my 219 average and improve my record to 55 wins, 35 losses. Next week we bowl on lanes 1 & 2.
Reminder that Friday March 13th through Sunday March 15th, the Vanderbilt Women's Bowling team is hosting the Music City Classic Intercollegiate tournament @ Smyrna Bowling Center. I spoke with John Williamson for a brief moment & he tells me that there will be many teams with their bowlers competing in this event. I plan on watching the action both Friday & Saturday, & maybe some action on Sunday after I am finished @ church.
The Moose Mixed League is still bowling Saturday evening, but the start time might be delayed due to the Vandy tourney.
Until next week, May the balls be rollin' & the pins be fallin'.
Saturday was week 13 of the Moose Mixed league @ Smyrna Bowling Center. Our team, "What Have I Done Now?" was facing the vacant team while holding a 2 point lead over the next two teams A & R Glass & TN Strikers. We controlled our own fate going in, but we failed to win game 1. We did respond to win the last 2 games and total pins to maintain a 2 point lead with 2 weeks to go. My games were 205, 221, & 211 for a 637 series and my average remained @ 218.

Monday was week 7th week for the 3rd session (29th week overall) of the Industrial League @ Smyrna Bowling Center. This was a very bad night of shot execution this season. I failed to realize that I was not getting the ball out in front of me (a big no-no) and thus my games were 200 (loss), 176 (loss) and 226 (win) for a mediocre 602 series. Our team, Jeannie Almon State Farm, won only 9 points, but still are about 13 points out of 1st place. My season record now stands @ 52-35 and my average dropped slightly to 219 (about 6thbest in the league. Next week, we bowl the other vacant team with another chance to earn lots of points and close the gap between us & first place.
Finally, this Friday, Saturday, & Sunday the Vanderbilt Lady Commodore Bowling team is hosting the Music City Classic Intercollegiate Bowling Tournament @ Smyrna Bowling Center. This is the final tournament including college matches for the Lady Commodores before the NCAA National Championships next month in Detroit, Michigan. Get out & support the Vanderbilt Squad this weekend.
Until next week, may the balls be rollin' & the pins be fallin'.
